Ada kalanya komputer pribadi digunakan untuk bersama, terkadang secara semena-mena juga menginstall program. Atau melalui flashdisk juga banyak firus yang bisa tertular, sehingga untuk mencegah hal-hal tersebut ada baiknya kita melakukan disable file exe di drive yang dikunakan untuk usb.

Berikut langkah-langkah yang digunakan

1. Buka Control Panel – Administrative Tools.
2. Buka Local Security Policy.

3. Pada Software Restriction Policies, klik kanan pilih Create New Policies.

4. Pilih Additional Rules.

5. Tambahkan Rules baru dengan klik kanan pada tab bagian kanan lalu pilih New Path Rule.

6. Pada form yang telah tersedia masukkan path (ex. F:\) lalu Ok.

7. Teruskan dengan menambahkan beberapa path lain yang tidak kita inginkan ada program yang dieksekusi di dalamnya

(pada kasus virus yang umumnya disebarkan lewat flashdisk maka masukkan path yang biasanya digunakan untuk flashdisk.)

8. Selesai.

Untuk mengujinya, cobalah log off lalu coba jalankan sebuah file .exe dari path yang sudah didaftarkan tadi. (kalau langkah-langkahnya sudah benar, seharusnya file tersebut tidak bisa dieksekusi lagi dan akan keluar pesan bahwa tidak diijinkan oleh Administrator.)

Berbagai Macam Penyebutan Angka ’0′ dalam Bahasa Inggris

Penyebutan angka ’0′ (nol) dalam bahasa inggris ternyata tidak hanya dengan satu kata saja namun memiliki beberapa kata yang akan disesuaikan dengan pengunaannya. Berikut contoh penyebutan angka nol:

nought	-	secara umum (bahasa Inggris British)
zero	-	secara umum (bahasa Inggris Amerika)
oh	-	apabila masing-masing angka disebutkan secara terpisah (misal: dalam nomor telpon, rekening, dll.)

Suit challenges discretion in issuing gun permits

The nationwide debate over liberalizing gun laws spilled into a federal courtroom in Sacramento on Thursday as gun-rights groups challenged how much discretion California’s law enforcement officials have in issuing concealed weapons permits.

Gun-rights advocates argued that county sheriffs, who handle most such permits, must issue them to anyone who completes a training course and has no mental health problems or criminal background.

They are challenging a policy by Yolo County Sheriff Ed Prieto, who says applicants in his county northwest of Sacramento must prove they have a reason to carry a concealed weapon, such as a threat to their safety.

That gives Prieto arbitrary discretion over a fundamental right to bear arms guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution, said Alan Gura, an attorney from Alexandria, Va. Gura is representing gun rights groups in California and groups that have filed similar lawsuits in Maryland, Massachusetts and New York.

Prieto’s attorney countered that California law allows the sheriff to set standards and he did so to avoid an arbitrary decision-making process.

The lawsuits come as many states are considering an expansion of concealed weapons permits, including allowing them on college campuses.

Prieto’s policy goes beyond those set by most California sheriffs by requiring, for instance, that applicants have “good moral character” and submit three letters of reference.

His seven-page policy limits permits to people who have been victims of a violent crime, those who can document threats of violence, and business owners who carry large amounts of cash. He will not give permits to people who cannot prove they face a credible threat of violence.

Yolo County includes the liberal enclave of Davis, home to a University of California campus. But it also is dotted with conservative farm communities.

“These are arbitrary standards,” Gura told U.S. District Court Judge Morrison England Jr.

In most counties, if a person asserts an interest in self-defense, they get a permit, “and everyone’s happy,” Gura said.

The Second Amendment Foundation, Calguns Foundation and three individuals sued Prieto in 2009, alleging his policy violates not only the Second Amendment, but First Amendment free speech rights and Fourteenth Amendment equal protection guarantees.

Sacramento attorney Serena Mercedes Sanders, representing Yolo County and Prieto, disagrees.

“Guns are not the same as speech,” she said. “Shooting off one’s mouth and shooting guns have very different consequences.”

The recent spate of lawsuits filed in California and other states was triggered when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that citizens have a right to own guns in their homes. Sanders and England said no court has ruled that the same right extends to carrying weapons outside the home, and England expressed skepticism that the same freedom should apply.

“Like most rights, the Second Amendment is not unlimited,” the judge said.

“The words `keep’ and `bear’ are separate words,” countered Gura. “‘Keep’ is what you do at home. ‘Bear’ is what you do in public.”

England fit the Sacramento case into the national debate that arose after U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head and six others were killed in Arizona during a political event in January.

“Had there been five concealed weapons there and everyone started pointing and everyone started shooting … wouldn’t that have created a more dangerous situation?” the judge asked rhetorically during the 30-minute hearing.

A federal judge in the Southern District of California in December ruled against gun-rights organizations in a San Diego County case. That lawsuit was brought by a different attorney who used different legal arguments.

Gura said there have been no decisions in the lawsuits he filed in other states, nor in a similar suit filed by another attorney in New Jersey.

England said he will consider Thursday’s arguments before issuing a written ruling. The judge also disclosed that he has had a concealed weapons permit himself, issued by Sacramento County’s sheriff about 10 years ago.

Sprint Kyocera Echo Android phone passes the FCC

It’s been some time since the Kyocera Echo was announced by Sprint, and according to the reports, the dual-screen Android smartphone has made its way through the offices of the FCC. This can only be a good sign and might mean that it won’t be too long before we see it on sale. The Kyocera Echo is the first dual-screen cellphone in the US and will go on sale for $199.99 with a 2-year contract on Sprint. This dual 3.5? screen phone packs a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Android 2.2, and has access to special apps that make use of its dual-screen display. It can also function as a single screen phone and dual-screen mode in both portrait and horizontal mode, depending on the app. The approval of the phone at the FCC means that it should arrive on time (it was slated for a spring release) this year. Back when I was in elementary school, a big part of our weekly library period was always spent learning how to use the Dewey Decimal System for finding nonfiction books. Well the system is now on the outs at many libraries in favor of a bookstore-style system, according to the Chicago Tribune. The article says this is mainly happening at smaller, suburban libraries, which makes sense. I think it would probably be too confusing at larger libraries.

City Pages in the Twin Cities has an expose of standardized test-grading from the temps who grade student essays. It doesn’t paint a pretty picture of what’s happening to essays behind closed doors.

I’ve mentioned laptop 1:1 programs on here before as well as written about schools using iPads and tablets, but if you want some good raw information, check out this report from an Australian schools that recently introduced iPads to its classes and closely analyzed the results in all the classes.

Paula Abdul 911 Call – She’s Frantic! – Listen To It!

During her run as a judge on American Idol, Paula Abdul would often shed tears of happiness over a contestant’s audition.

But the singer unleashed a cry of a different kind on Valentine’s Day this year, as a recording of her 911 call has hit the Internet. In it, Abdul is in hysterics because her (unidentified) boyfriend won’t let her out of the car.

Driving along the highway, near Santa Barbara, Abdul sobs to the operator: “I wanna go, and he won’t let me!”

After warning her man that she’s on the phone with “emergency,” Paula then tells the operator that, it’s okay, he has agreed to drop her off. Hours later, police officers arrived at Abdul’s home and were assured that everything was fine.

Said a spokesperson for Abdul to TMZ: “Arguments with loved ones are often times heated. After the call was made everything was worked out.”

Second ‘Water For Elephants’ Trailer Debuts: 3 Grand New Things

I think I’m just going to come out and say it: Best. Second. Trailer. Ever.

There’s nothing more disappointing than looking forward to a new trailer for a highly anticipated release, only for it to be a cleverly re-packaged version of the first with nary a new scene in sight. Well, “Water for Elephants” director Francis Lawrence got it right with this one, because it almost felt like I was watching clips from an entirely different movie (in a totally good way).

Sure, Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz were all there just like before, but this second trailer revealed a whole new perspective of Sara Gruen’s best-selling novel that I totally enjoyed. Let’s count all the exciting new things after the jump!

1. Jacob Jankowski’s back story unfolds
Whereas the first trailer began with Jacob’s (Robert) arrival at the Benzini Brothers show, this one goes back even further to the events that led him to join the big top. We see the veterinary student sit for an exam until he’s interrupted by an official with tragic news—his parents were killed in a car accident. It’s then that Jacob drops out of school and hops a train bound for his destiny.

2. Marlena and Jacob kiss!
Commence the fits of fangirl giggles! It’s only a quick one- or two-second flash on screen, but we definitely spied a make out session between Reese’s Marlena and Jacob. We knew it would only be a matter of time before those longing glances from the initial trailer we’re fulfilled. (We just wish we had been on the receiving end instead of Reese!)

3. The tone is much darker
Kissing another man’s wife tends to have consequences, and for Jacob, it’s a beat-down from Marlena’s husband August (Christoph). It’s just one of several scenes—including the circus catastrophe hinted at in the first trailer—that gives this second trailer a decidedly darker tone. While the joy and whimsy of the circus—tinkly music and all—were the focus last time, the tension and conflict inside the tent take center stage now.
